1. About these terms
These terms apply to every booking with Drift, and to memberships, gift vouchers and anything you buy on board.
Contact us at info@drift.spa.
The person who makes and pays for a booking (the "lead booker") accepts these terms for the booking when they pay. By booking, the lead booker confirms they are 18 or over. They must share these terms and Drift's house rules with everyone in their party.
When you book, the lead booker agrees to Drift's health and safety declaration for everyone in the party, so please check it with your guests first. Crew check each guest at the safety briefing before boarding.
We may update these terms. The version in force when you book applies to that booking.
2. Bookings and payment
A booking is confirmed when your payment goes through and we show your booking confirmation. We also email you a confirmation, but a late email doesn't mean the booking isn't confirmed.
Prices are in pounds and include VAT where it applies.
You pay in full when you book. You can pay by card, with account credit, or with a session from a membership, gift voucher or Social reward. Extras you add after booking, and anything you buy on board, are charged to the card you booked with (see section 9). Memberships are billed monthly (see section 4).
Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details.
Shared sessions are sold per person. Private hire is for the whole boat, up to the number of guests shown when you book, and the lead booker is responsible for the conduct of their group.
3. Gift vouchers
- Each voucher gives the sessions (or membership) shown on it, for the session types it covers. It doesn't cover private hire unless it says so.
- It's valid for 12 months from the day it's sent to the recipient (the day it's bought, if it goes straight away), unless the voucher says otherwise. The expiry date is shown on the voucher.
- Whoever holds the code can redeem it, once, on their Drift account. Sessions you don't use stay on your account until the voucher expires, then they are lost.
- Sessions are booked as usual, subject to availability. If a booking made with a voucher is cancelled in time, the session goes back on the voucher while it's still valid. A missed session, or one cancelled too late, is used.
- It can't be exchanged for cash.
- You can cancel a voucher within 14 days of buying it for a full refund if it hasn't been used. Email us to do this. After 14 days it's non-refundable.
- If a voucher is lost before it has been redeemed, contact us with proof of purchase and we can resend it, or issue a new code that cancels the old one. We can't replace a voucher someone else has already redeemed.
4. Memberships
- Paid memberships are billed monthly through Stripe from the day you join, until you cancel.
- What each membership includes (sessions a month, discounts, booking early, and which sessions and times it covers) is shown on the membership page when you join and on your account. Some memberships are off-peak only and can only be used for sessions marked off-peak.
- Some sessions are only open to certain members, so not every session can be booked with every membership.
- You can cancel anytime from your account. Your membership carries on to the end of the month you've paid for, then you move to our free Social tier. Any future bookings made with sessions included in your membership are cancelled when it ends.
- If you join online, you can change your mind within 14 days of joining for a refund. Email us to do this. If you've used your membership in that time, we'll deduct an amount for what you've used.
- If we change a membership's price or what it includes, we'll email you before the change applies, and you can cancel before it does.
- Everyone with a Drift account is on our free Social tier. Social members can earn free spaces for booking regularly, as described on your account. We may remove a reward that was earned by mistake or through misuse.
- Account credit comes from cancellations (see section 6) or from us. It's sent as a credit code and shown on your account with its use-by date.
- Promo codes can be used on the bookings and for the dates stated with the code.
- Rewards, credit and promo codes have no cash value, can't be exchanged for cash, and are lost if not used by their use-by date.
6. Cancellations, changes and river conditions
Bookings are flexible. You can cancel or move any booking, including private hire, online from your account or your confirmation email, up to the times below. If a session has different rules, they're shown when you book and in your confirmation, and those apply instead.
You can move a booking online up to 3 times. After that, contact us.
If you used credit on a booking you then cancel in time, that credit goes back on its original code with its original use-by date. Sessions from a membership, voucher or reward go back on it. If you paid on board or in person, we'll arrange your credit with you.
If we cancel and you'd rather have your money back than credit, email info@drift.spa and we'll refund it to your original payment method within 14 days.
We may cancel, shorten or move a session at any time, for example if river levels, flow, weather, water quality or an operational problem makes it unsafe. We follow Environment Agency river-condition warnings (red and yellow boards). If we cancel, you get the credit or refund above.
None of this affects your statutory rights.
7. Arrival, boarding and who can attend
Arrive 10 minutes before your session for a safety briefing. Guests who miss the briefing can't board.
- Guests must be 16 or over. The lead booker must be 18 or over.
- Board and leave only by the gangway.
- Every guest must be covered by the health and safety declaration and confirm it to crew at the briefing.
- Wear swimwear at all times. Bring a towel, or buy one when you book.
We may refuse boarding to anyone who isn't covered by the declaration, or who appears to have taken alcohol or drugs. In those cases there's no credit or refund. If we refuse boarding because a guest appears unwell, we'll offer them credit or a move to another session.
8. House rules
These rules exist for safety and for the river. They're also shown when you book. Breaking them may end your session without credit or refund.
- No alcohol or drugs on board, before or during your session.
- Phones can't be used inside the spa, and calls can't be made anywhere on board. Turn your phone to silent and put it in your storage box.
- No soaps, shampoos or lotions on board; nothing enters the river. We provide a salt scrub.
- Shower before you use the cold plunge.
- Sit on a towel in the sauna.
- No swimming in, jumping or diving into the river. Use the cold plunge baths only.
- Roof deck: barefoot only, no running, no climbing on or over rails.
- Don't touch the stove or add water, oils or fragrances to the stones unless crew invite you to.
- Limit sauna rounds to 15 minutes; cool down and drink water between rounds.
- Follow crew instructions at all times, including any instruction to leave the boat.
- Respect quiet sessions and other guests. No glass on board.
We may ask the lead booker to pay for damage caused deliberately or by breaking these rules.
9. On-board purchases
When you pay for a booking, Stripe saves the card you used so we can charge it for extras you add to your booking and for anything you buy on board. We don't charge it for anything else without asking you first.
On board, you can open a tab on the boat tablet with your name and a PIN (the last 4 digits of your phone number). What's on your tab is charged to your saved card when you tap Finish.
If anything is left unpaid, please settle it before you leave. Otherwise we'll email you a link to pay it.
If something you bought on board is faulty or wasn't what you ordered, tell crew or email us and we'll put it right or refund it.
If you take part in the members' community on your account, the community guidelines shown there apply. You must be 16 or over to take part and 18 or over to send messages. We may remove posts, photos or messages, or remove someone from the community, if they break the guidelines.
11. Liability, belongings, complaints and law
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to exclude.
Subject to that, we are not liable for loss or damage that was not reasonably foreseeable, or that results from a guest ignoring these terms, the house rules, crew instructions or the health and safety declaration. Subject to your statutory rights, our total liability for any other loss related to a booking is limited to the price of that booking.
Leave valuables at home. We provide storage boxes on board for essential items; we are not responsible for belongings left on board.
Tell crew about any problem during your session so we can put it right.
Otherwise, email info@drift.spa, ideally within 14 days so we can look into it while it's fresh. We'll reply within 7 days. This doesn't affect your legal rights.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
